SSC MTS Exam Preparation Tips

Selection Procedure

First candidate should have to apply through the official website: http://ssc.nic.in/. Selection of the candidate will be finalized on the basis of their performance in the written examination, personal interview and merit.

Know The Scheme of Written Examination

The written examination will consist of Paper-I that will objective type and Paper-II that will be descriptive type.

Paper-I

• Subjects: General Intelligence & Reasoning (25 questions, Max. 25 marks), Numerical Aptitude (25 questions, Max. 25 marks), General English (50 questions, Max. 50 marks), General Awareness (50 questions, Max. 50 marks)

• Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer

• Paper Type: Objective (Multiple choice questions in English & Hindi language)

• Total Duration / Timing: For General Candidates 2 Hours 10:00 am to 12:00 noon (No entry after 9:30 am) and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm (No entry after 1.30 pm). For Visually Handicapped/ Cerebral Palsy candidates 2 Hours 40 Mins 10:00 am to 12:40 pm (No entry after 9.30 am) and 2:00 pm to 4:40 pm (No entry after 1.30 pm)

Paper-II

• Subjects: Short Essay/ Letter writting in English or any language included in the 8th schedule of the constitution.

• Paper Type: Descriptive

• Max Marks: 50

• Total Duration / Timing: For General Candidates 30 minutes, and for Visually Handicapped/ Cerebral Palsy candidates 45 minutes

Know the Syllabus for Written Examination

Paper-I

• General Intelligence: It would include questions of non-verbal type. The test will include questions on similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.

• English Language: Candidates understanding of the Basics of English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. his/her writing ability would be tested.

• Numerical Aptitude: This paper will include questions on problems relating to Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, use of Tables and Graphs, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, Time and Work, etc.

• General Awareness: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

Paper-II

• The Paper will be set in English and Hindi and to the extent possible in other languages mentioned in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution as given in Annexure-X, to 13 test basic language skills commensurate with the educational qualification prescribed for the post. Candidates will be required to write one short essay/letter in English or any language included in the 8th schedule of Constitution.

Preparation Tips to Crack SSC MTS Exam 2018

• Study, Revise and Mark Important Points: One of the biggest mistakes that students make, they complete the topic well and move forward. But this is not the way how you should prepare. Instead when you prepare a topic write it down in a note book and make important points of that topic so that you can memorize it. Now on the next day when you start studying next topic before that revise the older one. In this way you will always remain in touch with all the topics.

• Study According to Syllabus: The syllabus of SSC Multi-Tasking Staff is huge especially quantitative and general knowledge. So please do not waste your time studying all the books and all subjects.

• Solve Previous Years Papers: Solving previous year question paper gives you the idea and pattern of the exam for which you need to prepare. Solving previous year question papers are very helpful because your speed will increase and side by side you will get to know the pattern of the MTS exam that SSC follows.
